I felt so inspired after watching this video. Designer Zaida Adriana Goveo Balmaseda tells us how she creates her own yarns from recycled scraps of fabric!
This is the first of a series of documentary portraits created for Downy´s ¨Beyond the Fabric¨ campaign.

Remembering Values

I have come across this photo on Pinterest and what can I say, I love it! Not only what it says but where it has been placed. I think I am going to do something similar in my studio. It is such a great way to start the day remembering what is really important.

Keeping your cool

I have read this article today that really engaged my attention. I could not take my eyes off the screen whilst eagerly reading through it.

Jewelry designer Pamela Liou gives us some advice on Keeping your Cool as a Small Business Owner. And as far as I can tell she has a lot of good advice to give.

My favorite paragraph is this one, I guess because we all have to go through it at some point during our creative journey:

¨On some level, everyone who goes after her dreams is engaging in glory-seeking, and when validation in all its forms — press or sales — does not come, the whole thing seems hardly worth the effort. But it is! The reason I got that early traction was because I loved the process of creation. It was a meditative distraction from writing my whopping 126-page thesis. I think the love showed through. I wasn’t doing it for my ego, and I had no intention whatsoever of selling my work. It was only until people started stopping me on the street and buying my jewelry off my neck that I realized I might be on to something. Preserve the desire to learn and create at all costs because it is fragile and fleeting, especially when money is changing hands. See it as practice instead of a test, and go easy on yourself. It’s not about “being good,” because if something sucks, you just edit it out.¨

And I musn't forget the quote from famous filmmaker  Werner Herzog:

“Quit your complaining. It’s not the world’s fault that you wanted to be an artist. It’s not the world’s job to enjoy the films you make, and it’s certainly not the world’s obligation to pay for your dreams. Nobody wants to hear it. Steal a camera if you have to, but stop whining and get back to work.”

Thank you Pamela, I will keep on coming back to your article, I know.
